The short version
Lemon collects nothing, sends nothing, and stores nothing outside your own Mac. Every conversion happens on your Mac, and the app contains no networking code at all.
Your files
Lemon opens a file only when you drop it on the lemon (or choose it from the right-click menu), and writes the converted copy beside it. While you drag a file with Option held, Lemon reads the name of the file being dragged so it can show the right formats; it cannot open the file until you drop it. The work is done by macOS itself (ImageIO, PDFKit, AVFoundation, Vision, and built-in tools such as sips, textutil, afconvert and tar) and by small conversion tools bundled inside the app. Files are never uploaded, copied elsewhere, or read for any other purpose. Temporary files made during a conversion are deleted when it finishes.
Folder access
Mac App Store apps can only write where you allow. Lemon asks for nothing when it starts. The first time you convert a file in a folder, it asks whether it may save the converted copy in that folder, and keeps a bookmark to it on your Mac so it does not have to ask again. It never looks through those folders on its own; it only opens the specific files you send it. You can remove a folder at any time in Settings › General.
The Finder extension
Lemon's Finder extension is optional and stays off unless you turn it on. It adds Squeeze with Lemon to the right-click menu. When you choose it, the extension passes the paths of the selected files to the Lemon app on your Mac. It reads nothing else and sends nothing anywhere.
What Lemon does not do
- No analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting.
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
- No accounts, no sign-in, no email collection.
- No third-party SDKs of any kind.
- No network requests. Lemon contains no networking code and opens no connections.
- No data sold or shared with anyone, because none is collected.
The links in the app
Lemon's About screen carries a “Built by AskMaddyy” credit with links to askmaddyy.com and to AskMaddyy on X. Pressing one hands the web address to your own browser. Lemon itself opens no connection, sends nothing with the address, and learns nothing about what happens next.
What is stored on your Mac
Your settings, meaning which formats appear for each kind of file, sounds, open at login, and the folders you allowed, are stored locally in the app's preferences. Nothing else is kept.
Purchases
Lemon is bought on the Mac App Store, and the purchase is handled entirely by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. Lemon itself never sees your payment details or your Apple Account.
Permissions
Everything Lemon asks for can be withdrawn at any time: folders in Lemon's Settings › General, and the Finder extension in System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes its settings with it. There is nothing held anywhere else to delete.
Children
Lemon collects no data from any user, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date at the top.
