The short version
Quackpit collects nothing, sends nothing, and stores nothing outside your own Mac. The app contains no networking code at all.
What Quackpit reads
Quackpit asks for permission to read the calendars on your Mac. The permission prompt says it reads the title and start time of your upcoming events so it can fly a reminder across your screen before each meeting, and that is exactly all it reads:
- the title, which it draws on the banner, and
- the start time, which decides when to fly.
What it does not read
Attendees, notes, attachments and locations are never read. Quackpit never creates, modifies or deletes anything in your calendar. It only ever reads.
Where your data goes
Nowhere. Event details are held in memory just long enough to decide when to fly and what to put on the banner, then discarded. Nothing is written to disk, and there is no server to send anything to.
What Quackpit does not do
- No analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting.
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
- No accounts, no sign-in, no email collection.
- No third-party SDKs of any kind.
- No network requests. Quackpit contains no networking code and opens no connections.
- No data sold or shared with anyone, because none is collected.
The one link in the app
The settings window carries a “Built by AskMaddyy” credit, and a button that opens System Settings if you need to change calendar permission. Pressing either hands a web address to your own browser or to macOS. Quackpit itself opens no connection, sends nothing with the address, and learns nothing about what happens next.
What is stored on your Mac
Your settings, meaning lead time, plane colour, flight direction and launch-at-login, are stored locally in the app's own sandbox container. Nothing else is kept.
Permissions
Calendar access is required; Quackpit cannot do its one job without it. macOS asks the first time you open the app, and you can revoke it at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Calendars.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes its container and every setting with it. There is nothing held anywhere else to delete.
Children
Quackpit collects no data from any user, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date at the top.
